Advance Your Nursing Career: Become a SANE!
Crisis Services of North Alabama is excited to announce our upcoming SANE Training! This comprehensive course is designed for Registered Nurses who are ready to expand their expertise and provide specialized care to survivors of sexual assault and violence.
Here are the details:
Didactic Portion: January 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 2026 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM daily)
Clinical Skills Lab: January 24 & 25, 2026 (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM both days)
This combined Adult/Adolescent and Pediatric SANE training, which also incorporates other vital aspects of forensic nursing, provides 80 CEs upon successful completion (64 didactic, 16 clinical).
After you have completed both sections, you will be recognized as SANE trained and equipped to offer critical support in our community.

The Forensic Nurse Examiner Program is dedicated to providing essential training and educational opportunities for professionals throughout the year. Crisis Services stands out as Alabama's sole provider of nationally approved Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training, certified by the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).
The program offers three distinct training pathways:
SANE-A Training: A comprehensive 40-hour course focusing on adult and adolescent populations.
SANE-P Training: A specialized 40-hour course designed for pediatric patients.
Combined SANE-A/P Training: An extensive 64-hour didactic course that encompasses both adult/adolescent and pediatric training.
Additionally, other valuable training sessions are available, including topics on Domestic Violence and Strangulation, as well as a Mock Trial experience to help participants apply their knowledge in a practical setting. These programs aim to enhance the skills and expertise of forensic nursing professionals, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle complex cases with sensitivity and care.
