The Forensic Nurse Examiner Program offers training & educational opportunities throughout the year.
Crisis Services provides Alabama’s only nationally approved Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training through the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN).
Crisis Services has been approved to train SANE-A (Adult/Adolescent -40 hour) SANE-P (Pediatric -40 hour) and a Combined SANE-A/P (64 hour) didactic training.
Other training offered: Domestic Violence & Strangulation, Mock Trial.
Crisis Services’ Clinical Skills Lab is a two-day forensic nursing skills lab for RNs and APRNs who have completed a 40-hour didactic Adult/Adolescent SANE course.
The FNE program has a specialized team of Forensic Teaching Assistants (FTA), who are trained to assist FNEs and advocates in training so students can learn all aspects of trauma-informed care on an FTA rather than a victim of assault.
For nurses who choose to work for the Crisis Services Forensic Nursing Program, the 64-hour Combined SANE Didactic Training and the Clinical Skills Lab Training are offered at a reduced rate.
