Upcoming Training

August 2026 Combined SANE Training

Didactic Training (Hybrid):
August 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20th, 2026
Training will be held three days per week for three weeks from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM each day.

Clinical Skills Lab (In-Person):
August 29–30, 2026
The Clinical Skills Lab will take place over a two-day weekend from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM both days.

This is a combined SANE training (adult/adolescent and pediatric) and also includes other aspects of forensic nursing. A one-hour lunch break is provided each day during both the didactic training and the clinical skills lab.Upon completion of both components, you will receive a total of 96 Continuing Education hours

  • 72 hours from the didactic training

  • 16 hours from the clinical skills lab

At that point, you will be considered SANE trained.

The Forensic Nurse Examiner Program is dedicated to providing essential training and educational opportunities for professionals throughout the year. Crisis Services stands out as Alabama's sole provider of Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training.

The program offers three distinct training pathways:

  • SANE-A Training: A comprehensive 40-hour course focusing on adult and adolescent populations.

  • SANE-P Training: A specialized 40-hour course designed for pediatric patients.

  • Combined SANE-A/P Training: An extensive 64-hour didactic course that encompasses both adult/adolescent and pediatric training.

Additionally, other valuable training sessions are available, including topics on Domestic Violence and Strangulation, as well as a Mock Trial experience to help participants apply their knowledge in a practical setting. These programs aim to enhance the skills and expertise of forensic nursing professionals, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle complex cases with sensitivity and care.
